Argus works closely with our communities, networks, and charitable partnerships to provide support through fundraising, awareness generation, financial contributions, and project donations.

Cure Cancer Foundation & Toast of the Town

Argus has actively supported the Cure Cancer Foundation and the Toast of the Town for many years. Our team takes immense pride in backing causes that make significant impact, supporting research and development of groundbreaking technologies to give those in need of a fighting chance to battle cancer.

Argus Legacy Pucks

The Argus Legacy pucks began as a way for hockey players and fans to commemorate significant accomplishments. They have since evolved into keepsakes that honour individuals who have been active in our community and leaders in driving change or supporting charitable causes.

The design, investment, and meticulous manufacturing of the Argus Legacy puck mirror the same dedication put into cancer research. For the last few years, we have manufactured and donated a limited number of pucks for the Toast of the Town event, which are then auctioned off. The funds gathered from the pucks are put back towards cancer research within the Cure Cancer Foundation.

The design for 2024 pays tribute to Mr. Cal Nichols, who has twice saved the Oilers from leaving the city and has been a steadfast supporter within the Edmonton community, actively promoting the search for a cure for cancer and supporting numerous cancer related events for many years.

The funds raised will support two new state-of-the-art labs at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton and advance immunotherapy research in Alberta. One of the key goals is to provide more patients access to lifesaving therapy and transform treatment options for future generations.

Dr. Michael Chu, a medical oncologist at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton, is conducting groundbreaking work in immunotherapy, particularly CAR T-cell therapy. This method reinvigorates the immune system to fight cancer cells, showing an 80% response rate.

Impact of Toast of the Town:

  • Increase treatment capacity from one to twelve patients per month.
  • Reduce treatment costs by 90% through in-house manufacturing.

Argus is proud to support this cause, having raised $30,000 through our Legacy puck cases at this year’s Toast of the Town event, which generated a remarkable $500,000 overall. As of July 2024, Argus has contributed $100,000 to their cause.

Discover more about this worthy cause and how you can be a part of it by owning one of these unique and limited pucks. Your support will play a crucial role in our mission to find a cure for cancer. Learn more at https://curecancerfoundation.ca/news/argus-legacy-pucks/

General Recycling & Kids with Cancer Society

Argus partners with General Recycling for the removal and recycling of debris from the machining process. Recycled steel is compacted and melted down into slabs. It does not lose its properties during the process, meaning it can be infinitely recycled. We opt to forfeit the GST that General Recycling would give back to us and they pay it forward to the Kids with Cancer Society. Since 2019, $48,260.00 has been donated. We are committed to aligning with those doing good in the community as every bit helps.

Fort Edmonton Foundation Time Capsule Project

In 2019, Argus was approached by the Fort Edmonton Foundation with a unique opportunity to play a role in celebrating Edmonton's history and capturing a snapshot in time. Our engineering and manufacturing teams spent hundreds of hours designing and machining the time capsule, housing and commemorative plaque. The capsule is made of aluminum and plastic, the housing cemented into the ground is made of steel, and the plaque is made of nickel aluminum bronze. It was buried at Fort Edmonton Park on August 11, 2022. Inside the capsule are letters, guest books, past and future plans of the part and a menu from Johnson's Café from the 1920s. It will be unearthed 50 years from then, in 2072.
